1959-06-26 Ltr GJT to Norma re info from Winterswijk municipality

Gerrit Jan told Norma that he had requested quite a bit of family information from the “Registrar of the Municipality of Winterswijk,” which would be available in a week or ten days. To order the documents, Gerrit Jan said he had to pay four guilders (Netherlands currency, equivalent to US $1.06 in 1959.)

In that same letter of June 26, 1959, Gerrit Jan listed several family surnames found in the Winterswijk area, in addition to te Selle, such as te Paske, te Vrugle, te Sligte, te Gronde. All the names started with “te” (or sometimes “de”) followed by a name that ended in “e”. He also noted that those types of names were very localized to the Winterswijk area, and were not encountered in other parts of the Netherlands.
