Jan Hendrik te Selle emigrated from the Netherlands in 1865 with his wife Hanna Onnink and his brother Harmen Jan. After a brief stay in Wisconsin, Jan Hendrik migrated west and homesteaded farmland near Firth, Lancaster County, Nebraska, where he lived until his death.
