Herman John TeSelle was born near Firth, Lancaster County, Nebraska on 2 August 1888, the son of Harmen Jan te Selle and Johanna Arnolda Brethouwer. Herman and his wife Jennie Vandewege remained on the family farm after his mother and dad decided to relocate from the farm to the town of Firth to retire.

Harmen Jan te Selle had 16 children, 13 of whom survived into adulthood. From those 13 surviving children came dozens of children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. There is a wealth of stories, photos, and other memorabilia residing with many of these descendants of Harmen Jan te Selle. TeSelle, Gerrit Henry (1894-1953)
Gerrit H. TeSelle was the youngest son of Harmen Jan te Selle (1844-1919). Gerrit served in WWI and then came back home to Firth, Nebraska. He married Pearl Spellman and they had two children.
TeSelle, Evert John (1878-1962)
Evert John TeSelle was born in Firth, Lancaster County, Nebraska on 2 September 1878. Evert was the son of Harmen Jan te Selle and Johanna Arnolda Brethouwer. Evert married Wilhelmina (Minnie) Obbink in 1902. He died in Lincoln, Lancaster County, Nebraska on 30 January 1962.
Reusink, Berendina Aleida (1841-1876)
Berendina A. Reusink was born on January 29, 1841, in Lintelo, Aalten Municipality, Gelderland, Netherlands. She married Manus Schreurs (1824-1865). On December 17, 1864, they had a son, Manus John Schreurs, born in Cedar Grove, Wisconsin. Brethouwer, Johanna Arnolda (1859-1927)
Harmen Jan te Selle had four young children and no wife, who had recently died in childbirth. Johanna Arnolda Brethouwer was willing and available. Harman Jan and Johanna Arnolda were married in May 1876.

In 1989 in Lincoln, Nebraska, Norma Te Selle Prophet (1923-2009) organized a well-documented reunion of over 200 descendants of 3 te Selle brothers who emigrated from the Netherlands and eventually settled in Lancaster County, Nebraska, in the early 1870s: Jan Hendrik (1838-1921), Gerrit Jan (1841-1921), and Harmen Jan te Selle (1844-1919).

Johanna Marie (Annie) TeSelle was born in Firth, Lancaster County, Nebraska on 15 September 1896, and died on 9 November 1972.

Jan Hendrik te Selle (1838-1921) emigrated from the “De Selle” farm in Winterswijk, NL, and eventually homesteaded farmland for himself and his family near Firth, Lancaster County, Nebraska.

Harmen Jan te Selle (1844-1919) was born on the “De Selle” farm, near Winterswijk, Netherlands. He and brother Jan Hendrik te Selle (1838-1921) emigrated to Wisconsin in 1865, where they lived with their Aunt Janna and Uncle Gerrit Bloemers. Within a few years the brothers moved from Wisconsin to Lancaster County, Nebraska, where they homesteaded farm land, raised their families, and remained for the rest of their lives.
